CHARTER AUTHORIZER

On November 1, 2023 the Florida Department of Education approved Miami Dade College’s Florida Charter Institute (FCI) as the state’s newest charter school authorizer, focusing on sponsoring schools in Miami-Dade County.

As an authorizer, FCI will focus on authorizing charter schools that demonstate a student-centered approach and a commitment to driving innovation in pursuit of academic excellence. Our mission is to facilitate high-quality educational options for students in Miami-Dade County.

FCI is currently putting the finishing touches on our first Request for Applications (RFA) for charter schools. We anticipate releasing the RFA late in the Spring, 2024. Please check back here to learn more, or email our Director of Authorizing, Ms. Jenna Hodgens.
